A native of Michigan, Dan Barthel has spent his life surrounded by the state’s natural beauty. Inspired to capture the familiar scenes in a new way, Dan has explored fresh perspectives that evoke awe and delight.

Dan is based in Port Huron, where the beaches, lakes and sunrises provide an endless source of inspiration. Driven by his desire to share his enthusiasm for all the wonders he saw in the Blue Water Area, photography began as a hobby for Dan. As his work grew in popularity, photography has become his passion and his subjects have expanded beyond Michigan.
His work has been published by USA Today, Detroit Free Press and The Times Herald, and it has been included in the Pure Michigan campaign and the U.S. Navy’s Corp of Engineers calendars.
